Hey everyone I'm looking at picking up an LS6 intake manifold and was wondering if porting it would be worth any performance gains over a pretty much stock LS1??? Also who around here could do it and what it would cost me? Thanks

You wont see any real gains stock or modified, the ls6 flows pretty damn well already. If you were to do anything it could only be the throttle body openings and the very bottom of the runners. Unfortunatly you cant take it apart like the fast but if your going from a ls1 to ls6 you should see around 20hp. IMO its not worth the money or time to port one.

Yeah thanks alot I'm probably going to pick up this manifold for honestly stupid cheap, not to sure if the guy knows what he has or not but I'm even giving him more than what he asked for, just thought if I could pick up a few HP's with some porting and still be on top I'd be OK.

Save your money and get a BBK 85, and get an 85 mm throttle body. You can port it and make more power than an LS6 would.

Ok makes me feel better cuz the guy I'm getting it from has the BBK but is still giving me a deal on his LS6.

And I had thought I would do more on my build this year but its going to be nothing more than just bolt ons. . . thought I may do a cam and heads swap but refund desappointed me this year. . .

So are you getting both the bbk and the ls6?
these are the right #s for the manifolds
The old LS1 intake with the EGR setup is 12560688.

The Stock 2001-2002 F-body LS6 is 12561184.

The Z06 LS6 is 12573572.

These are the numbers stamped on the manifold

Ok so I picked up the fbody LS6 without EGR. Is there a big difference between this one and the zo6? I only paid 50 for it so I think I could stomach being out the cash. Yeah sorry my earlier posts didn't make sense I was hitting the bottle pretty hard last night when I wrote them. . .

I don't think there's much difference between the two but if you change your mind about it let me know I know a couple people willing to get it off your hands for $50 lol, great find.

Yeah I'll probably run it for awhile, will I just have to live with the egr codes until I can get them tuned out?

Go see clint or trent or any of the tuners on here they can tune out the code for cheap...

Thanks bud but I Roll a '98. . . I have the LS6 intake a set of longtubes, catless Y-Pipe, and in the market for an exhaust ASAP before I throw everything on, and then with the nitrous I may just get a dyno tune???

Oh one more question if I do plan on getting a tune should I blow the cash on new O2's or should I just reuse mine and get those tuned out too???

whats wrong with your O2s? you need the first set but not the 2nd set.. you dont have a cam so i dont think they should be going bad on you, but LTs sometimes make them fault out..

Yeah my O2's occasionally throw a code, my car has well over a 100k on it too and I'm betting they've never been changed, I was going to swap them with some '01 Corvette rears instead of getting extensions but should I just use my old ones and get them tuned out?

Yeah I'm hoping I'll eventually get there, I got my car bone stock just 5 months ago so with some more time and money into it I might be able to get there. . .
