View Full Version : Fuel System?

In October, my BAP went up in smoke, literally. I can easily replace the pump and reinstall the wiring, but for some reason the fuse didn't pop on the BAP (if it did, something let the current keep flowing) and I have a completely burned hot wire and most likely a burned up BAP circuit board.
After this experience, there is no way I let another BAP sit inside my engine compartment, so I am looking for options.
APS has a nice in-tank system, but their attitude on LS1Tech scares me away from them, but one does have to admire their work.

Dallas Performance has a nice system specially designed for the C6 that looks great.

The other options from LG and such are beyond what I am willing to pay, I am not looking for monster HP so no need for a stand alone system.
Anyone know of alternatives out there? I don't mind paying the right $ to keep my car from becoming a smoldering heap.
This is the remainder of the wiring, the other half of the wire is laying on the ground or somewhere in the engine compartment.

Hmm, that is too bad. I am also running a BAP, (Kenne Bell) and have had 0 troubles with it. Not sure of the others you speak of though. Hopefully Trent or Clint can chime in.

I have the APS kit, with twin pumps.
It's a good kit. It came with everything needed, but one plug was missing.
I had someone who didn't know what he was talking about tell me I was wrong.
I ended posting about it on Tech and they resolved the issue quickly.
The fuel rails I got were also machined wrong, the injector holes are to big. Not there fault.
They sent me new ones and the problem was solved.
After having it almost 2 years I finally have it installed, and have had no further issues.
The kit cost me about 2k, so it's not cheap. It was plug and play, and I didn't have to send in my fuel bucket for modifying, so there was no down time.
Good luck

I am using APS's kit as well.
I was also missing one connector but APS sent it before I even opened up my kit.
It is a very clean kit. Comes with everything you need and very straight forward.

Thanks for all the replies.
The original BAP is from MSD, so I am a bit shocked, although I was told that it isn't too uncommon to burn up :hmmmm2: and that the fuse block is faulty and can be replaced with a higher quality one. Sorry, not gonna burn the car up trying to retrofit.
I do like the APS, it is very tempting, but I can't exactly help out a company that treats customers the way they have in the last few months. As good as their engineering and fit have been, sending out knock off turbos and blowing off customers won't fly with me. Makes me sad because I love the products they have.
I will check out the other two companies mentioned, I figured somewhere around $2500-$3000 for the right setup. I look forward to dropping the tanks too, I might have to get the skinny armed stepson to unhook the hoses for me :)
I have a few months to decide, so ideas are still welcome.

I remember the phone call I got from ya in Oct. Thought you would have had the fuel system in by now, but 3k is hard to swallow.
I know you have done a lot of research on your fuel system, read lots of reviews. Me personaly I would drop the tank and do a Duel Walbro setup with a WOT or boost referenced switch to turn on your secondary pump. I can get pumps for $125 each, then could help you fab up the rest of the fuel system if you like. Would seem the most cost effective way, and would be far less than 3k to spend, but it's up to you.
At any rate, good luck, and your welcome to contact me whenever you would like to.
Regards,
Clint

I am starting to agree with this, there was a post from LG Motorsports (who sells a $5K race only system) who recommended going with Z06 or equivalent pumps, a Bosch external, and a hobbs switch. Now adding in a few things like some good fuel rails and stainless lines and regulator is just a bonus.
Thanks for the research, I think I will probably go that way and hit you up when I am ready.

Doing a dual pump set up would be the way to go if you are planning on cranking her up to 800HP.
But it is very involved because of your dual tank set up with the crossover pump set up . What are your plans for the future?
If you plan on keeping her at the same power level there are a few other options and less expensive and more dependable then what came with the turbo kit.
Call me and we can discuss

When I installed my D1SC, I went with a Lonnies Performance Double Pumper kit. It's relatively simple, and the hardest part is getting the twin Walbros into the factory bucket (dunno if the GTO bucket is in any way analogous to the one in the C6). The kit was a good $1800 before rails and injectors, but I figure it's the last time I'm going to be buying a fuel system for my setup and I have almost infinite room for growth.
Highly recommended.

I did find someone locally who makes a surge style tank and pump system, so I can keep the stock pump and not have a problem with one of the tanks going empty.
A lot cheaper than this one from LG, but similar.
